Miami Riverwalk
The Miami Riverwalk along the Miami River

The Miami Riverwalk is a special path for walking in Downtown Miami, Florida. It stretches along the north side of the Miami River and the beautiful Biscayne Bay. The path starts at Bayfront Park and goes quite a distance, ending near the South West 2nd Street bridge. Sometimes, parts of the Riverwalk might be closed for new building projects.

What is the Miami Riverwalk?

The Miami Riverwalk is a popular place for people to walk, jog, or simply enjoy the views of the river and the city. It's designed to give everyone easy access to the waterfront.

Where Does the Riverwalk Go?

The Riverwalk passes under several bridges that cross the Miami River. These include:

  • The Brickell Avenue Bridge, which was built way back in 1915.
  • The South Miami Avenue Bridge.
  • The Miami Metrorail tracks.
  • The South West 2nd Street Bridge.
  • It finally ends under the I-95 highway overpass.

Fun Events at the Riverwalk

Since 2008, a special event called the Miami Riverwalk Festival has been held every November. This festival is a lot of fun! It offers free entertainment and celebrates the culture of the area. It's a great chance for families and friends to enjoy music, art, and other activities right by the river.

Part of a Bigger Plan

The Miami Riverwalk is actually a part of a much bigger project called the Miami River Greenway. This larger plan aims to create a continuous green path along both sides of the Miami River. While the Riverwalk on the north side is mostly complete, the greenway on the south side of the river is still being worked on. When finished, it will provide even more space for people to enjoy nature and the waterfront in Miami.
