Miami Valley Gaming is a special place in Turtlecreek Township, Ohio. It's a "racino", which means it has both a harness racing track and a casino. It first opened its doors in 2013.

This racino took the place of an older track called Lebanon Raceway. That track was located in nearby Lebanon. Miami Valley Gaming offers live harness racing during certain seasons. You can watch races on Friday and Saturday nights, and also on Sunday, Monday, and Tuesday afternoons. They also show races from other tracks across North America every day. This is called simulcasting.

How Miami Valley Gaming Started

A New Idea for Ohio Racetracks

In 2011, the Governor of Ohio, John Kasich, approved a new idea. He allowed "video lottery terminals" (VLTs) at racetracks in the state. VLTs are like slot machines, but they are connected to a state lottery. This change made it possible for racetracks to offer more types of games.

Building a Modern Racino

Because of this new rule, two big companies decided to work together. These were Churchill Downs Inc. and Delaware North Companies. In March 2012, they agreed to buy Lebanon Raceway. They paid $60 million for it. Their plan was to build a brand new racino a few miles away. This new project was going to cost $215 million.

The purchase of Lebanon Raceway was completed in December 2012. The new casino at Miami Valley Gaming officially opened on December 12, 2013.

Expanding the Fun

A few years later, in 2017, Miami Valley Gaming grew even more. They spent $5 million to add new areas. These included a new outdoor patio and special areas for players who wanted to play with higher stakes.

Important Times and Changes

Adapting to Challenges

In November 2020, the world was dealing with the COVID-19 pandemic in Ohio. Because of this, the Governor of Ohio, Mike DeWine, put a statewide curfew in place. Miami Valley Gaming announced that they would change their operating hours to follow these new rules. This showed how businesses had to adapt during that time.
