Michaela Jean Burton is an American actress, cosplayer, and host. She is well-known for her work in the gaming world. She has hosted shows for Achievement Hunter and The Know. She also worked with the Overwatch League and voiced a character in the video game 100ft Robot Golf.
The New York Times newspaper called Mica Burton a "nerd renaissance woman." This means she is talented in many different areas, especially those related to gaming and pop culture. Essence magazine has also noted her as one of the few professional Black cosplayers.

Mica Burton's Career
Acting Roles
Mica Burton started her acting career in 2015. She played the character Jules in the movie Lazer Team. She also had a small part in The Eleven Little Roosters in 2017.
In 2016, she lent her voice to the character Vahni in the video game 100ft Robot Golf. Mica is also famous for her roles in web shows where people play tabletop role-playing games (RPGs). These include Destiny & Doom (2017) and Nights of Eveningstar (2020) by Wizards of the Coast. She also appeared as a guest on popular shows like Critical Role and L.A. by Night.
A special role for Burton was playing Ensign Alandra La Forge in the third season of Star Trek: Picard. Her father, LeVar Burton, played Geordi La Forge in the Star Trek series, so this was a fun connection!
Cosplay Adventures
Mica Burton began cosplaying when she was in high school. Cosplay is when you dress up as characters from movies, video games, or comics. She went to a convention with a friend and loved it.
In 2019, the company Riot Games asked her to create League of Legends cosplays. She has also received many compliments for her amazing cosplays of characters from The Legend of Zelda video games.
Hosting Events and Shows
Mica Burton was a big fan of Rooster Teeth since she was a kid. In 2016, she joined the company after meeting some of the founders. She started as a host for their gaming division, Achievement Hunter. Later, she moved to their entertainment news division, The Know. She left Rooster Teeth in 2018 due to some challenges she faced there.
In 2019, Burton became a "League Insider" for the Overwatch League. In this role, she interviewed players. She left the Overwatch League in 2020.
Mica has hosted many Dungeons & Dragons events for Wizards of the Coast. These include D&D Live 2019: The Descent and D&D Live 2021. In 2020, she also started co-hosting the web series Critter Hug for Critical Role Productions.
She was a speaker at Ubisoft's Black Game Pros event in 2020. She also hosted a cosplay competition at Glitchcon in 2020. Burton co-hosted a Star Trek anniversary stream in 2020 and several Star Trek streams on Paramount+ in 2021.
Mica hosted The PC Gaming Show during E3 2021 and Summer Game Fest 2022. She also co-hosted an episode of 10 Minute Power Hour (10MPH) with the Game Grumps in March 2024. The episode was called “HEDBANZ but it’s making us doubt our sense of self…w/ Mica Burton!”

Mica Burton's mother is makeup artist Stephanie Cozart-Burton. Her father is the famous actor LeVar Burton.
Mica graduated from the University of Michigan in 2016. She earned a Bachelor of Fine Arts (BFA) degree in acting.
