Early Life

Michael Kiessou was born in Douala, Cameroon. His family comes from the MiFi and Koung-Khi areas in the West Region of Cameroon. From a young age, he loved world music and traditional rhythms from his home region.

He was inspired by famous Cameroonian artists like Sam Fan Thomas and Richard Bona. Throughout his school years, he developed his passion for music. He often took part in school music competitions.

Music Career

Starting in Radio and TV

After finishing his degree in communication at the University of Douala, Michael started working in radio. He trained at RTM Radio Douala. There, he met Joyce Fotso, who helped him begin his career as a radio and TV host.

Two years later, he joined the TV channel Canal 2 International. He hosted shows like Sweet Surfer on Sweet FM radio. He also hosted Comptoir dafrik and Urban list on TV.

First Steps in Music

While working as a TV and radio host, Michael decided to try making music. He worked with a local RNB singer named Edel Koula. Their song Demoiselle was his first step into the music world.

In March 2013, he met producer Philjohn. Philjohn signed Michael to his record label, Hope Music Group. This was a big step for his music career.

"Partage" EP Release

After joining Hope Music Group in 2013, Michael spent time in music studios. He worked on new songs for his first album. The song Abele was produced by Philjohn. It was released on July 17, 2013. This song became the first single from his album, Partage.

In the music video for Abele, Michael celebrated the lively dance culture of the Littoral Region (Cameroon). He also paid tribute to Sam Fan Thomas's famous "Makassi dance". The video was directed by NS Pictures. It first showed on the Jambo show of Canal 2 International on July 28, 2013. It was then released on YouTube on August 3, 2013.
