Michael David Taylor (born December 19, 1985) is an American former professional baseball player. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Michael played for the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox between 2011 and 2014.

Michael Taylor was born in Cheverly, Maryland. He went to Apopka High School in Apopka, Florida. After high school, he played college baseball at Stanford University. In 2006, he also played summer baseball. This was for the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League.

Playing for the Philadelphia Phillies
The Philadelphia Phillies picked Michael Taylor in the fifth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. This was after he played at Stanford University. At the end of the 2009 season, he won a special award. He received the Paul Owens Award. This award goes to the best position player in the Phillies' minor league system. He was also named the Eastern League Rookie of the Year. At that time, he was playing for the Reading Phillies.
Time with the Oakland Athletics
On December 16, 2009, Michael Taylor was part of a big trade. He was traded to the Toronto Blue Jays. Then, the Blue Jays immediately traded him to the Oakland Athletics. He spent the entire 2010 season playing for the Sacramento River Cats. This team is a Triple-A team, which is just below Major League Baseball.
Michael made his big league debut with the Oakland Athletics on September 2, 2011. He played right field and batted ninth in the game. During his short time with the A's in 2011, he played 11 games. He had 6 hits, 1 home run, and 1 RBI. His batting average was .200. The Athletics later removed him from their main roster on March 29, 2014.
Joining the Chicago White Sox
On June 14, the Athletics traded Michael Taylor again. This time, he went to the Chicago White Sox. He was traded for a pitcher named Jake Sanchez. On October 24, 2014, Michael was sent to a Triple-A team. On the same day, he decided to become a free agent. This meant he could sign with any team he wanted. On January 22, 2015, he signed a minor league deal with the White Sox again.
