Michael David Taylor (born December 19, 1985) is a former professional baseball player from the United States. He played as an outfielder in Major League Baseball (MLB). Michael Taylor was part of the Oakland Athletics and Chicago White Sox teams. His MLB career lasted from 2011 to 2014.

Early Life and College Baseball
Michael Taylor was born in Cheverly, Maryland. He grew up and went to high school in Apopka, Florida. After high school, he attended Stanford University. There, he played college baseball for the Stanford Cardinal team. In 2006, he also played summer baseball. He joined the Yarmouth-Dennis Red Sox in the Cape Cod Baseball League.
Michael Taylor's Baseball Journey
Starting with the Philadelphia Phillies
Michael Taylor began his professional baseball career in 2007. The Philadelphia Phillies chose him in the fifth round of the 2007 Major League Baseball Draft. This was after he finished playing at Stanford University.
By the end of the 2009 season, Taylor received a special award. He was given the Paul Owens Award. This award goes to the best position player in the Phillies' minor league system. He was also named the Eastern League Rookie of the Year. At that time, he was playing for the Reading Phillies.
Playing for the Oakland Athletics
In December 2009, Michael Taylor was part of a big trade. He was traded from the Phillies to the Toronto Blue Jays. This trade also involved Kyle Drabek and Travis D'Arnaud. In return, the Phillies received star pitcher Roy Halladay.
Right after this, the Blue Jays traded Taylor again. He went to the Oakland Athletics in exchange for Brett Wallace. Taylor spent the entire 2010 season playing for the Triple-A Sacramento River Cats. He also played in the Arizona Fall League.
On September 2, 2011, Michael Taylor made his first appearance in Major League Baseball. He played for the Oakland Athletics. In his short time with the A's in 2011, he played 11 games. He got 6 hits, hit 1 home run, and had 1 RBI. His batting average was .200. The Athletics later removed him from their main roster on March 29, 2014.
Time with the Chicago White Sox
On June 14, 2014, the Athletics traded Taylor to the Chicago White Sox. This trade was for another player named Jake Sanchez. On October 24, Taylor was removed from the White Sox's main roster. He was sent to the Triple-A Charlotte Knights. Later that same day, he decided to become a free agent.
On January 10, 2015, Taylor signed a new contract with the White Sox. It was a minor league contract. However, on March 10, Michael Taylor announced his retirement. He decided to stop playing professional baseball.
