Michael Williams, born on July 16, 1961, is a former American football player. He was a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He played for the Philadelphia Eagles and the Atlanta Falcons. The Eagles picked him in the 1983 NFL draft. Before joining the pros, he played college football at Northeast Mississippi Community College and Mississippi College.

Growing Up and College Football
Michael Williams was born in Atmore, Alabama. He went to Escambia County High School in his hometown.
After high school, Michael played college football for the Northeast Mississippi Tigers from 1979 to 1980. He then moved to Mississippi College and played for the Mississippi College Choctaws during the 1981 and 1982 seasons.
Playing in the NFL
Michael Williams was chosen by the Philadelphia Eagles in the fourth round of the 1983 NFL draft. He was the 89th player picked overall that year. He officially joined the Eagles on May 26, 1983.
Time with the Eagles
In his first year, 1983, Michael played in 15 games and started nine of them. He ran the ball 103 times for 385 yards. He also caught 17 passes for 142 yards. In 1984, he played in all 16 games, starting one. That season, he ran for 83 yards on 33 carries and caught seven passes for 47 yards. The Eagles released him on August 20, 1985.
Time with the Falcons
Michael then signed with the Atlanta Falcons on April 3, 1986. He was released later that year. On September 23, 1987, the Falcons signed him again during a player strike. He played in three games for the Falcons, starting one. He ran for 49 yards on 14 carries and caught nine passes for 70 yards. He was released again on October 19, 1987, after the strike ended.
