Michael the Black Man (born Maurice Woodside on April 24, 1959), also known as Michael Symonette and Mikael Israel, is a well-known person in American politics from Miami, Florida. He is a strong supporter of former US president Donald Trump. He is famous for appearing at Trump's events, called rallies, both before and after the 2016 election. At these rallies, he often sits behind Trump holding a sign that says "Blacks for Trump."
Early Life and Beginnings
Maurice Woodside grew up in Miami, Florida. In 1980, he became involved with a group led by Hulon Mitchell Jr., also known as Yahweh ben Yahweh. His brother, Ricardo, and his mother, Johnnie Simmons, were also part of this group. Maurice Woodside later left the group with his sister after his mother passed away.
Becoming a Political Voice
After his early experiences, Woodside became a strong critic of the Democratic Party. He changed his name to Michael Symonette and started a career as a musician. He also launched a radio station called BOSS 104.1 FM. Later, he became known as "Michael the Black Man."
In September 2008, he gained attention when he spoke at an event for Barack Obama in Coral Gables, Florida. He made strong statements about political figures there.
In 2012, he spoke at a campaign event for Rick Santorum in Coral Springs, Florida. He told the audience that the Democratic Party was not good for African Americans. As of August 2017, he manages several websites, including Gods2.com. He often shows off his website on his shirt at Trump's rallies. In an interview in 2020, Woodside said that his past experiences helped shape his views against the Democratic Party.
