Michaela-Batya Bisi Abam (born June 12, 1997) is a talented professional football player. She was born in America but also plays for the Cameroon national team. Michaela plays as a midfielder for Deportivo Toluca, a team in Mexico's top women's league.

Before joining Deportivo Toluca, she played for several other teams. These included the Houston Dash and Sky Blue FC in the American National Women's Soccer League. She also played for Real Betis in Spain and Paris FC in France.

Early Life and Youth Soccer

Michaela Abam was born in Houston, Texas. She went to Harmony Science Academy High School. As a young player, she played youth soccer for a team called Texas Rush. This team later became part of the Houston Dynamo/Dash Youth Academy.

College Soccer Career

Michaela played college soccer for the West Virginia Mountaineers. She played in 95 games, which is a record for the school. During her time there, she scored 42 goals and made 16 assists.

In 2016, she scored a very important goal. It was the only goal in a 1–0 win against the University of North Carolina. This game was a semi-final match in the College Cup. Her goal helped West Virginia University reach their first-ever College Cup final.

Professional Club Career

Starting with Sky Blue FC (2018)

In 2018, Michaela Abam was chosen by Sky Blue FC as the 4th player picked in the 2018 NWSL College Draft. She was part of their main team for the 2018 season. She played in four games for Sky Blue before leaving the team in July.

Playing in France with Paris FC (2018–2019)

On August 1, 2018, Michaela signed a one-year contract to play for Paris FC. This team plays in France's top women's league, the Division 1 Féminine. She played in 10 league matches and scored one goal for the team.

Time in Spain with Real Betis (2019–2020)

Michaela then moved to Spain. On August 7, 2019, she signed a one-year contract with Real Betis. This team plays in the Spanish Primera División. She played in 15 league matches and scored three goals. The season was stopped early due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

In September 2020, she scored three goals in one game, which is called a hat-trick. This happened in a pre-season cup match. She played in five more league games for Real Betis before leaving the club.

Returning to the USA with Houston Dash (2021–2022)

In August 2021, Michaela signed with the Houston Dash in the NWSL. This was special because she was the first player signed by the Dash who had played for a Dash-affiliated youth club. Her first game was on August 13, 2021. She scored a goal that helped her team tie the game 2–2.

The Houston Dash announced that Michaela left the club in March 2023.

Playing in Sweden with Linköping FC (2023)

On April 4, 2023, the Swedish club Linköping FC announced that Michaela Abam had joined their team. Linköping FC plays in the Damallsvenskan, which is Sweden's top women's football league.

Current Club: Deportivo Toluca (2024–Present)

Since 2024, Michaela Abam has been playing as a midfielder for Deportivo Toluca. This team competes in the Liga MX Femenil, which is the highest women's football league in Mexico. She has played in 44 games for them and scored 14 goals.

International Career

Michaela Abam made her first appearance for the Cameroon national team on November 12, 2018. It was a friendly game against Zambia, which Cameroon won 7–0. Michaela scored two goals in that game.

She was chosen to play in the 2018 Africa Women Cup of Nations. However, she could not play due to issues with her Cameroonian passport. In May 2019, she was named to the team for the 2019 FIFA Women's World Cup.
