Michelle Knudsen is a very popular American author who writes books for children. She has written over 50 books, including the famous Library Lion. This book has won many awards. Michelle Knudsen also wrote the Trelian fantasy series for middle schoolers and the Evil Librarian series for young adults.

She studied at Cornell University and earned a special degree (an MFA) in writing for children and young adults from the Vermont College of Fine Arts. Today, she teaches creative writing at Lesley University.

Michelle Knudsen is a New York Times best-selling author. This means her books have been very popular and sold many copies. She has written more than 50 books for young readers. These include board books for toddlers, picture books, early readers, and novels for middle school and young adult readers.

Her most famous book is Library Lion. This picture book has been translated into fourteen different languages. It was even turned into a musical play that was performed in Israel and South Africa. Time Magazine chose Library Lion as one of the "100 Best Children's Books of All Time."

Michelle Knudsen also wrote the Trelian fantasy trilogy. This series includes The Dragon of Trelian, The Princess of Trelian, and The Mage of Trelian. She also wrote the Evil Librarian trilogy for young adults. The first book in this series won the Sid Fleischman Award for Humor in 2015. Besides writing, Michelle also works as an editor and teaches writing. She lives in Brooklyn, New York City.
