Michelle Tanon-Lora was born in 1968 in Ivory Coast. She is a writer and a teacher at the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny in Abidjan. She loves telling stories and even started a group called "Pathé Pathé," which means "patchwork."

Since 2009, Michelle has been writing stories especially for children. She believes that reading helps young people learn about and love Africa's rich culture. She also helps lead the Ivorian Writers' Association as its vice-president since 2011.

Michelle Tanon-Lora was born on August 20, 1968, in Bouaké, Ivory Coast. She is a mom with three children: a daughter who is 19, and two sons, aged 15 and 11.

Her Journey in Education

Michelle studied a lot to become an expert in literature. She earned a master's degree in Spanish in 1992. Later, in 1999, she completed her doctorate in literature. This means she studied books and stories very deeply.

At the Université Félix Houphouët-Boigny, Michelle teaches students about how to understand and analyze stories. She also teaches about Spanish literature and how people communicate. She especially loves teaching about oral storytelling and fun African games. Michelle works hard to get children and young people excited about reading and telling stories. She does this by organizing special workshops and training programs.

Bringing Stories to Life

In 2009, Michelle started "Pathé-Pathé." This special group focuses on sharing stories in schools all around the world. Her goal is to make storytelling popular and fun for everyone.

That same year, she began writing her own children's books. She truly believes that when young people read, they connect with Africa's amazing cultural history.

Michelle also created a project called Lec'TOUR. Through this project, she brings mobile libraries to kindergartens and primary schools. She visits both city and country areas, especially those that don't have many books. This way, more children can discover the joy of reading.

Awards and Recognition

Michelle Tanon-Lora has won several awards for her wonderful children's stories. These awards show how much her work is appreciated:

  • 2015: She won second prize from the National Library of Ivory Coast for her youth literature.
  • 2017: She received the second Excellence Award for Literature from the Ivorian government.
  • 2017: She was honored with the Jeanne de Cavally Award for youth literature.
