Michiru Ōshima (born March 16, 1961) is a talented Japanese composer and arranger. She creates music for many different things. This includes anime, movies, TV shows, and video games. She has even written music for live concerts!

Michiru Ōshima has composed music for over 100 movies and more than 200 TV shows. She is known for creating a lot of music for films, anime, and video games. She has released over 300 CDs, which include movie soundtracks and her own music.

Some of her famous movie works include the Godzilla vs. Megaguirus, Godzilla Against Mechagodzilla, and Godzilla: Tokyo S.O.S. films. She also composed music for many anime TV series. These include Fullmetal Alchemist, Fullmetal Alchemist the Movie: Conqueror of Shamballa, and Nabari no Ou.

Michiru Ōshima studied music at Kunitachi College of Music. She started composing and arranging music while still in college. She has created music for movies, TV shows, commercials, and even classical musicians.

She released her first big symphony, called “Orasho,” when she was still a student. People noticed her because she was great at using both orchestras and synthesizers. She could create huge, dramatic sounds and beautiful melodies.

Michiru Ōshima won her first major award at just 16 years old. This was the 1st prize at the International Electone Festival in 1977. She has won many other awards for her music. These include several Japan Academy Prize (film award) for Music. She also won the Tokyo Anime Award for Best Music in 2006.

She has worked with orchestras and musicians from all over the world. This includes groups from the U.S., Australia, France, and many other countries. In 2020, she performed at a concert called "KAIJU CRESCENDO" in Chicago. This concert featured Japanese monster music!

Michiru Ōshima also composed a piece called “Memories” for a special album. This album, ‘In 27 Pieces: the Hilary Hahn Encores,’ won a Grammy Award in 2015. She has also worked on government projects. For example, she was a music director for the "40th Year of ASEAN-Japan" event in 2013.
