Michitaka Akimoto (秋本 倫孝, Akimoto Michitaka, born September 24, 1982) is a Japanese football player. He was born on September 24, 1982, in Shizuoka, Japan. Akimoto plays as a defender and has had a long career in professional football.

Early Life and Youth Career

Michitaka Akimoto started his football journey in Japan. He attended Shimizu Commercial High School from 1998 to 2000. After high school, he continued to play football at Hosei University. He played there from 2001 to 2004. These years helped him prepare for a professional career.

Professional Club Career

Akimoto began his professional career in 2005. He joined Ventforet Kofu as a defender. He played for this club for six seasons until 2010. During his time there, he played in 151 games and scored 19 goals.

Playing for Kyoto Sanga FC

In 2011, Akimoto moved to Kyoto Sanga FC. He spent three seasons with this team. He played 80 matches and scored 6 goals. While with Kyoto Sanga FC, his team was a runner-up in the 2011 Emperor's Cup. This is a major football tournament in Japan.

Later Career in Japan and Thailand

After Kyoto Sanga FC, Akimoto played for Kataller Toyama in 2014. He then moved to Thai Honda Ladkrabang F.C. in Thailand. He played for this club from 2015 to 2018. He appeared in 69 games and scored 8 goals for them. In 2019, he returned to Japan to play for Fujieda MYFC.
