Middle Osborn Island is an island located off the coast of the Kimberley region in Western Australia. It is part of the Bonaparte Archipelago and sits on the western side of Admiralty Gulf.

The island covers an area of about 2,361 hectares (or 5,834 acres). It is one of several islands in the Osborn Island group. Other islands in this group include South West Osborn, Borda, Carlia, Steep Head, and Kidney Island. There are also smaller rocky outcrops like West, North, and Centre Rock. Middle Osborn Island is actually a volcanic plug, which means it's the remains of an ancient volcano's core.

The original people of this area are the Indigenous Australians. Specifically, the Uunguu peoples of the Wunambal language group are the traditional owners. They call the island Ngurraali.

How Did Middle Osborn Island Get Its Name?

The Osborn Island group was named in 1891 by Phillip Parker King. He named it after John Osborn, who was one of the Lords of the Admiralty. The Lords of the Admiralty were important officials in charge of the British Navy.
