Middlesex County, Ontario facts for kids
Middlesex County is a rural area in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. This means it's mostly made up of countryside, farms, and smaller towns, rather than big cities. In 2011, about 70,796 people lived here. The main office for the county's government is in the city of London. Even though London is the county seat, it's like a big city that manages its own affairs and is not part of the county's local government.
Middlesex County has eight main areas with their own local governments, called municipalities. These include Adelaide Metcalfe, Lucan Biddulph, Middlesex Centre, Newbury, North Middlesex, Southwest Middlesex, Strathroy-Caradoc, and Thames Centre. There are also three First Nations communities within the county: Chippewas of the Thames 42, Munsee-Delaware 1, and Oneida 41. These are self-governing Indigenous communities.
