Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó (born 11 January 1961 – died 6 December 2012) was an important politician from Equatorial Guinea. He served as the 5th Prime Minister of Equatorial Guinea. His time as Prime Minister was from 11 July 2004 to 14 August 2006. He was a member of the Bubi ethnic group.
Early Life and Career
Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó studied in the Soviet Union when he was younger. There, he became an expert in mining engineering. After his studies, he went back to Equatorial Guinea. He started working for the government. He became a very important person in the country's oil industry.
Government Roles
From 1999 to 2000, Abia Biteo was the Minister of Finance. He later left this job due to some difficulties. He was also a close friend and supporter of the President, Teodoro Obiang Nguema Mbasogo.
Before becoming Prime Minister, Abia Biteo worked as a minister. His job involved working with the country's parliament and dealing with legal matters for the President.
Becoming Prime Minister
On 11 July 2004, Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó was chosen to be the Prime Minister. His new government was officially announced a few days later, on 14 July.
End of Term
In 2006, President Obiang expressed strong concerns about Abia Biteo's government. Because of this, his government stepped down on 10 August 2006. Another politician, Ricardo Mangue Obama Nfubea, took over as Prime Minister on 14 August.
Later Life
Miguel Abia Biteo Boricó faced some challenges after leaving his role as Prime Minister. He passed away on 6 December 2012. His death was caused by a heart attack.
