Miguel Ángel Carballo (born on March 22, 1979) is a golf player from Argentina. People often call him "El Tati". He made history by being the first Argentine to win on the Nationwide Tour, which is now known as the Web.com Tour. Throughout his career, Miguel has played on many different golf tours, including the PGA Tour, European Tour, Challenge Tour, Tour de las Américas, and the Asian Tour.

Miguel Carballo's Golf Journey

Starting Strong on the Nationwide Tour

Miguel Carballo began his journey on the Nationwide Tour in 2007. It was his first year, and he did very well. He played in 25 tournaments and made it to the final rounds in 17 of them. This helped him finish 31st on the money list for the season.

He even won his very first tournament on the Nationwide Tour, the Movistar Panama Championship. Winning this event meant he could play on the Tour for the rest of 2007 and all of 2008. He got into this tournament because he was one of the best players on the Tour de las Américas.

First Big Wins and European Tour

In 2006, Miguel won his first professional golf tournament. It was called the Abierto Telefonica de Guatemala. This event was special because it was part of both the Challenge Tour and the Tour de las Américas.

Later, in 2005, he earned the right to play on the European Tour. He did this by making an amazing comeback at the European Tour Qualifying School. He played incredibly well on the last three holes, getting a birdie, then a hole-in-one, and another birdie! This fantastic finish helped him get his spot on the tour.

Playing on the PGA Tour

In 2011, Miguel did so well on the Nationwide Tour that he finished 10th on their money list. This earned him a spot on the PGA Tour for 2012. However, he found it tough to stay on the PGA Tour. He played in 25 events but only made it to the final rounds in 13 of them. Because of this, he didn't keep his PGA Tour card for 2013.

He went back to the Web.com Tour (which used to be the Nationwide Tour) in 2013. He played well again, finishing 23rd on the money list. This helped him earn his PGA Tour card once more for 2014.

Awards and Asian Tour Success

In 2011, Miguel was given a special award in Argentina called the Olimpia de Plata. This award is given by sports journalists to recognize great athletes.

After some challenges on the PGA Tour, Miguel started playing on the Asian Development Tour in 2018. He won the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament in Indonesia. This win helped him become the top player on the Asian Development Tour's money list, which meant he could move up to the main Asian Tour.

He continued his success in 2019, winning the Singha Laguna Phuket Open, which was also part of the All Thailand Golf Tour. In September 2019, he achieved a big goal by winning his first Asian Tour event, the Bank BRI Indonesia Open.
