Career Highlights
Miguel Ángel Carballo started his professional golf journey in 2002. He quickly began to make a name for himself. His hard work led him to play on several important golf tours around the world.
Early Successes
In 2007, Carballo had a great first year on the Nationwide Tour. He played in 25 tournaments and made the cut in 17 of them. He even won the very first event he played, the Movistar Panama Championship. This win was special because it gave him full playing rights on the Tour for a long time. He qualified for this event by being one of the top players on the Tour de las Américas.
Before that, in 2006, Carballo won his first professional tournament. This was the Abierto Telefonica de Guatemala. It was a joint event between the Challenge Tour and the Tour de las Américas. He also earned his spot on the European Tour in 2005. He did this by making an amazing comeback at the Qualifying School. He finished with a birdie, a hole-in-one, and another birdie on his last three holes!
Playing on the PGA Tour
In 2011, Carballo finished 10th on the Nationwide Tour's money list. This high ranking helped him earn his PGA Tour card for 2012. The PGA Tour is one of the biggest golf tours in the world. Although he played in 25 events, he did not keep his card for the next year.
He returned to the Web.com Tour in 2013. He played well enough to earn his PGA Tour card again for 2014. He also played on the PGA Tour in 2016 and 2017. In 2011, he received the Olimpia de Plata award. This award is given by Argentine sports journalists.
Recent Achievements
After playing on the PGA Tour, Carballo joined the Asian Development Tour in 2018. He won the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament in Indonesia. This win helped him lead the Order of Merit, which meant he moved up to the Asian Tour.
