Miguelita Creek is a small stream located in Northern California. It begins in the hills of East Foothills, California, which sit right above the San Jose Country Club. A stream that flows into a larger body of water is called a tributary. Miguelita Creek flows downhill until it joins Lower Silver Creek. From there, the water travels toward Coyote Creek, an important river found in Santa Clara County, California.

The Path of Miguelita Creek

Miguelita Creek starts high up in the foothills where rain gathers on the slopes. As the water flows downhill, it passes through neighborhoods and outdoor spaces. In some places, people can easily view the water from nearby roads, such as Alum Rock Road.

In busy cities, streams often have to share space with roads, parks, and houses. To help the water move safely without flooding streets, engineers build large pipes or tunnels under the ground. These underground passages are called culverts. For example, Miguelita Creek travels into a culvert under Fairway Drive to keep the roadway dry.

After traveling through its upper section, the stream meets up with Lower Silver Creek. Together, the combined waters flow through another large culvert beneath the busy highway known as US 101. Eventually, this water empties into Coyote Creek at a public park called Watson Park. The spot where two flowing streams meet is called a confluence.
