Mike Embley's Early Life and Career
Mike Embley was born in Sutton, which is in England.
Before he joined the BBC, Mike started his career as a newspaper journalist. He trained with Thomson daily papers in Wales. He worked for newspapers like the South Wales Echo and the Western Mail. This early experience helped him learn a lot about reporting and finding news stories.

Mike Embley began working in broadcasting in 1983. His first job at the BBC was with BBC Wales. He worked on a show called Wales Today. This program shared local news for Wales.
Reporting on Important Events
In 1987, Mike moved to a consumer affairs show called Watchdog. This show helped people with problems they had with products or services. In 1989, he worked on another show called Public Eye. While working there, he was the first British reporter to reach San Francisco. He went there to report on a big natural disaster, the earthquake. Returning to BBC News

Becoming a Global News Presenter
In 1995, Mike Embley joined BBC World. This is the BBC's international news channel. He worked there for two years. Then, he became the main presenter for Newsroom South East. This was the BBC's local news program for London and the South East of England.
In 2001, Newsroom South East was replaced by two new shows. After that, Mike Embley rejoined BBC World as a presenter. He also presented on the domestic BBC News Channel. Mike also conducted special one-on-one interviews for the BBC program HARDtalk. He also reported on several series for the radio station BBC World Service.
Mike Embley retired from his long and successful career on April 15, 2021.
