Michael Latrent Harris (born June 15, 1983) is an American former professional basketball player. He was known for his strong scoring and rebounding skills. Mike played for many teams around the world during his career.

College Basketball Journey
Mike Harris played college basketball for Rice University. He was an amazing player there! By the time he finished, he was the all-time leading scorer for Rice. He scored a total of 2,014 points. He also grabbed 1,111 rebounds, making him the all-time leading rebounder too.
Professional Basketball Career
After college, Mike Harris started his professional career in 2005. He played for teams in different countries and leagues.
Early Career and D-League Success
Mike first played for BC Kyiv in Ukraine in 2005-2006. He then joined the Colorado 14ers in the NBA D-League for the 2006-2007 season. He showed off his skills, averaging 11.8 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.
He also had a chance to play for the Houston Rockets in the NBA preseason. Even though he played well, he was waived before the regular season started.
Playing in China and the NBA
In the 2007-2008 season, Mike played for the Dongguan Leopards in China. He was a star there, averaging 24.3 points and 11.6 rebounds per game. His great play earned him a short contract with the Houston Rockets in the NBA. He later signed for the rest of that season.
Mike returned to the D-League in 2009, playing for the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. He was so good, averaging 25.3 points, that the Houston Rockets signed him again! He also briefly played for the Washington Wizards.
In 2010, Mike Harris had a fantastic year. He was named the NBA D-League MVP. He also led the Rio Grande Valley Vipers to win the NBA D-League Championship. In the final game, he scored 26 points and grabbed 16 rebounds!
Adventures in Puerto Rico and China
Mike continued his career playing for many teams. In 2012, he joined the Jiangsu Dragons in China. After that, he played for the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico. He was named the Most Valuable Player of the Puerto Rican league in 2013. He averaged 20.4 points and 10.2 rebounds per game that season.
In 2013, Mike signed with the Utah Jazz in the NBA. He played 20 games for them before returning to China to play for the Zhejiang Golden Bulls. He then went back to the Leones de Ponce in Puerto Rico. He helped them win the championship and was named the Finals MVP! Many people thought he was the best player in the Baloncesto Superior Nacional league during this time.
He continued to play in China for teams like the Qingdao Eagles and the Sichuan Blue Whales. In 2016, he helped the Sichuan Blue Whales win their first-ever CBA championship. He was also named the CBA Player of the Year!
Later Career and Retirement
Mike Harris continued to play basketball around the world. He had stints with teams in Puerto Rico, China, Lebanon, the Philippines, and Bahrain. He won the West Asian Basketball Cup in 2018 and the Bahraini Premier League (basketball) in 2021. He was also named the Chinese NBL Player of the Year in 2019.
Mike Harris announced his retirement from professional basketball in 2022. He had a long and successful career playing in many different leagues and countries.
