Early Life and Beginnings
Mike Ruiz was born in Montreal, Canada, in 1964. He grew up in Repentigny, Quebec. Mike has a mixed background, with both French Canadian and Filipino family roots.
When he was 20, Mike moved to the United States. He wanted to start a career in the entertainment world. He spent ten years working as a model. After that, he moved to Los Angeles to study acting. In 2002, Mike moved to New York City. This move helped him focus on his photography career. He found a new agent there, which really helped his work take off.

Becoming a Photographer
Mike Ruiz started his journey into photography at age 28. He once said, "I found a camera under my Christmas tree and within minutes, I was obsessed." He taught himself how cameras work. It took a few years before he realized he could make a living from his passion. Today, Mike lives in New Jersey. He is very well-known for his celebrity and fashion photography.
