Early Life and College Basketball
Mike Smith was born in West Monroe, Louisiana. He attended West Monroe High School in his hometown. After high school, he continued his basketball journey in college.
Smith played college basketball at two different schools. From 1996 to 1998, he played for Bossier Parish Community College. Later, from 1998 to 2000, he played for the University of Louisiana at Monroe. While playing for Louisiana-Monroe, he was recognized as the Southland Player of the Year in 2000. This award goes to the best player in the Southland Conference.
