Mikel Leshoure (born March 30, 1990) is a former American football player. He played as a running back in the National Football League (NFL). He was chosen by the Detroit Lions in the 2011 NFL draft. Before playing professionally, he played college football for the Illinois Fighting Illini.

Growing Up and High School Football
Mikel Leshoure grew up in Champaign, Illinois. He went to Centennial High School there. During his time playing high school football, he ran for over 4,600 yards. He also scored 52 touchdowns by running the ball.
College Football Career
Mikel Leshoure played college football at the University of Illinois. As a freshman in 2008, he played a little bit. He gained 126 yards on 35 carries.
In 2009, during his sophomore year, he got more playing time. He played in 12 games. He ran for 734 yards on 108 carries.
His best college season was in 2010. He rushed for 1,697 yards in 13 games. This was one of the best rushing totals in the nation that year. He also scored 17 touchdowns.
Big Games in College
Leshoure had an amazing game against Northwestern. He set a school record by rushing for 330 yards in that single game. He also helped his team win the 2010 Texas Bowl. In that game, he scored three touchdowns. The Illini won 38-14 against Baylor.
Professional Football Career
Mikel Leshoure was picked by the Detroit Lions in the 2011 NFL draft. He was the 57th player chosen overall. This happened in the second round of the draft.
Playing for the Detroit Lions
After being drafted, Leshoure faced a challenge. He had an injury that made him miss his first season in 2011.
He made his NFL debut in 2012. This was in Week 3 against the Tennessee Titans. In that game, he ran for 100 yards and scored a touchdown. He had 26 carries in total. The Lions lost a close game in overtime, 44–41.
The Lions released Leshoure on August 30, 2014.
Time with the BC Lions
Leshoure later signed with the BC Lions on February 5, 2016. This team plays in the Canadian Football League (CFL). He was released by the team a few months later, on May 5, 2016.
