Mikhail Sergeyevich Biryukov (Russian: Михаил Сергеевич Бирюков) was a talented junior tennis player from Russia. He was born on April 28, 1992, and passed away on October 4, 2019. Mikhail reached his highest singles ranking of 292 in the world. After he stopped playing professional tennis at age 22, he became a coach for younger players, helping them improve their game.
Mikhail's Tennis Journey
Mikhail had a notable moment in his tennis career in 2010. On August 21, he represented Russia at the first-ever Youth Olympic Games. These games were held in Singapore.
At the Youth Olympics, Mikhail teamed up with fellow Russian player Victor Baluda. Together, they won a silver medal in the boys' doubles event. They played against a strong team from Great Britain and the Czech Republic, Oliver Golding and Jiří Veselý, in the final match.
About Mikhail's Life
Mikhail Biryukov was the son of Irina Kiseleva. His mother was a very successful athlete herself. She was a four-time World Champion in modern pentathlon. Modern pentathlon is a sport that combines five different events: fencing, swimming, equestrian show jumping, and a combined event of pistol shooting and cross-country running.
Mikhail Biryukov passed away in Moscow, Russia, on October 4, 2019.
