Miko Marks is an American singer who performs Americana and country music. She was born in Flint, Michigan. Miko studied Political Science at Grambling State University in Louisiana from 1990 to 1994. Later, she moved to Oakland, California. In 2006, Miko Marks was named Best New Country Artist at the New Music Weekly Awards.

Miko Marks' Music Journey
Miko Marks started her music career in 2005. Her first song was "Freeway Bound." Soon after, she released her first album, also called Freeway Bound, on September 13, 2005. More songs from this album, like "Kickin' Back" and "Mama," came out in 2006.
The song "Mama" was special because it was Miko's first music video. A famous singer named Erykah Badu even appeared in the video!
In 2007, Miko released her second album, It Feels Good. Both of her first two albums were produced by Ron Cornelius. A music critic from allmusic gave It Feels Good a good review. He said it was a "solidly enjoyable" country album and compared her to popular groups like the Dixie Chicks.
After a break, Miko Marks released a new album in 2021 called “Our Country.” The main song from this album was "We Are Here."
A big moment for Miko was in October 2022. She performed for the very first time at the Grand Ole Opry. This is a famous country music stage in Nashville, Tennessee. Her performance was so good that the audience gave her two standing ovations!
In October 2023, Miko Marks worked with the Fisk Jubilee Singers. They created a new version of her song "Jubilee" together.
