Miksa Déri was a Hungarian engineer and inventor. He was born on October 27, 1854, in Bács, which was part of the Austrian Empire. He passed away on March 3, 1938.
Déri worked with two partners, Károly Zipernowsky and Ottó Bláthy. Together, they helped create an important invention: the closed iron core transformer. This invention was so important that their model was named ZBD after their last names.
Déri also invented a special type of electrical generator in 1883. This generator could produce a steady, constant voltage of AC electricity. This was a big deal for power plants. It meant they could produce a reliable amount of electricity, no matter how much was being used. This invention was very important for the start of large-scale AC power generation.
The name ZBD was a short way to refer to the three inventors: Zipernowsky, Bláthy, and Déri.
Miksa Déri is also known for inventing a special kind of repulsion motor. This motor uses a single phase of electricity to work.
Education and Legacy
Miksa Déri's work helped shape how we use electricity today. His inventions were key steps in making electricity available to many people.
