Carmen Milena Mayorga Valera (born on April 22, 1976) is an important person from El Salvador. She is a diplomat, a politician, a journalist, and used to be a model. Since December 1, 2020, she has been the Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States. President Nayib Bukele chose her for this role. Before that, from 2018 to 2020, she was a member of the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador.
Milena Mayorga was also a successful model and competed in beauty pageants. She represented El Salvador in Miss Universe 1996 and made it into the top ten. Before she started her career in politics, she worked as a journalist and presented the news. She was part of a political party called the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) but left it in 2020.

Early Life and Modeling Career
Milena Mayorga was born in San Salvador, El Salvador, on April 22, 1976. Her father was a doctor, and her mother was from Venezuela. After finishing high school, Milena started working as a model. She appeared on a very popular TV show in El Salvador called Fin de Semana.
Becoming Miss El Salvador
In 1996, Milena won the title of Miss El Salvador. This allowed her to compete in the Miss Universe 1996 pageant. She did very well, reaching the Top 10 finalists. She was the fourth woman from El Salvador to make it to the top at Miss Universe. She was also the last Salvadoran to reach the top until Isabella García-Manzo made the Top 10 in Miss Universe 2023. Milena Mayorga was also the first person from Central America to have a "Back To Back" classification at Miss Universe.
Career in Television
After her time at Miss Universe, Milena Mayorga became a news presenter. From 1999 to 2005, she worked for Teledos. In June 2005, she moved to another channel, Canal 12. There, she joined a new group of presenters for Hola El Salvador, which is El Salvador's longest-running morning show. In 2011, Milena started hosting her own talk show on Canal 12, called Milena tu amiga.

Serving in the Legislative Assembly (2018–2020)
In 2018, Milena Mayorga was elected to the Legislative Assembly of El Salvador. She represented the San Salvador Department as a member of the Nationalist Republican Alliance (ARENA) party. However, on June 4, 2020, she decided to leave her party. She stated that she believed there were problems with the party's leaders.
As a legislator, Milena worked on important issues. She supported creating a special group to fight against corruption. She also wanted to create an international group to help stop corruption in El Salvador. Additionally, she supported a law to bring back money that had been stolen or hidden from the country. In 2020, she voted for all the ideas proposed by President Nayib Bukele's government. These ideas included loans, money rules, and health measures related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Ambassador to the United States (2020–Present)
On December 1, 2020, Milena Mayorga became the Ambassador of El Salvador to the United States. In this role, she works on foreign relations. She supported creating a special group to help Salvadorans living in the United States. She also worked on a law to allow Salvadorans living abroad to vote in the 2021 Salvadoran legislative election. Furthermore, she supported changes to laws about migration and immigration. She also helped to approve the Treaty on the Prohibition of Nuclear Weapons, which aims to ban nuclear weapons.
