Mill City Nights was a music venue in downtown Minneapolis, Minnesota. It was a popular place for concerts. The venue could hold about 1200 people. It opened in 2012 and closed in 2016. A company called AEG Live operated it. Before it was called Mill City Nights, it was known as The Brick for a short time in 2012.

A Place for Music

Mill City Nights was a great spot for live music. Many bands that were well-known but not huge stadium acts played there. Some of these artists included Cole Swindell, Eric Paslay, and Dan + Shay. The venue was not connected to the Mill City Museum or its "Mill City Live" events.

Concerts on TV

Mill City Nights worked with AXS TV. This meant that some of the concerts held there were shown on television. The first band to have their show featured on AXSLive was Seether. They performed on October 16, 2012.

Why Did It Close?

Mill City Nights closed its doors for good on November 30, 2016. The main reason for its closure was the high cost of rent. The company AEG no longer runs the venue.

The Nether Bar

Inside Mill City Nights, there were three bars. One bar was on each level of the building. The most special bar was called The Nether Bar. It was located in the basement. The Nether Bar could even be a separate place for smaller, local bands to play. It was also a spot where concert-goers could get drinks before or after a show.

What Happened Next?

After Mill City Nights closed, people started wondering if a new music venue would open there. In December 2016, there were rumors about a new place called MPLS Music Hall. This new venue began to host shows in September 2017. Damian Marley was one of the first big acts to perform there.

However, as of 2021, it is not clear if MPLS Music Hall is still open. Its website is no longer active. Also, its social media pages have not posted anything since 2018.
