Discovering Mill Grove

Where is Mill Grove?

Mill Grove is found in the northern part of Missouri. You can find it about one mile west of a major road called U.S. Route 65. It's also about six miles south of a bigger town named Princeton. The Weldon River flows right past the west side of the community, which adds to its natural beauty.

A Look Back in Time

Mill Grove has a history that goes back to the 1800s. The community was officially mapped out, or "plattted," in the year 1870. It got its name from a mill that was located very close to where the community first started. Mills like this were important back then for grinding grain into flour.

A post office was opened in Mill Grove in 1873. This meant people could send and receive mail right in their own community. The post office served the area for many years, finally closing its doors in 1974. Even though the post office is gone, Mill Grove remains a part of Mercer County's history.
