Millport is a small town located in Lamar County, Alabama, in the United States. It officially became a town in 1887. In 2020, about 1,010 people lived there. Millport was once the biggest town in Lamar County, between 1890 and 1900. Today, it is the third largest town in the county.

Millport's Financial Challenges
In 2005, Millport faced some big financial problems. The town's mayor, Waymon Fields, found that the town owed nearly $3.5 million. Because of these money troubles, Millport had to file for something called chapter 9 bankruptcy. This is a legal process that helps towns and cities deal with their debts. It helped Millport work out a plan to pay back what it owed.
