After the Civil War, Milo Sumner returned to his academic life. In 1652, he was chosen by the Parliamentary Commissioners to be a Fellow and a Professor of Mathematics at Trinity College, Dublin. His role as Professor later became known as the Donegall Lectureship, which is still an important academic position today.
