Milson's Past: A Railway Town
Milson has an interesting history connected to trains. In 1926, work started on the Milson railway deviation. This project moved the main railway line away from the city centre.
Around that time, the Railways Department built many houses for its workers. They created a special railway settlement in this area and called it Milson. About 70 railway houses were built here. A primary school and a community centre were also built for the workers and their families.
Many of these houses were later sold. However, about 60 of them still stand in Milson today. Most of the rest of the suburb was built after the 1950s.
Milson, and a main street called Milson Line, are named after an early landowner in the area.
