Malinda Gayle McCready (born November 30, 1975 – died February 17, 2013) was an American country music singer. She was active from 1995 until her death in 2013. During her career, she recorded five studio albums.

Her first album, Ten Thousand Angels, came out in 1996. It was a big hit, selling over two million copies. Her next album, If I Don't Stay the Night (1997), also sold very well. Later, she released I'm Not So Tough in 1999. Her fourth album, Mindy McCready, was released in 2002. Her final album, I'm Still Here, came out in 2010.

Mindy McCready had twelve songs that appeared on the Billboard country music charts. One of her songs, "Guys Do It All the Time", became a number one hit. She also had other popular songs like "Ten Thousand Angels" and "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)".

Early Life and Start

Mindy McCready was born Malinda Gayle McCready in Fort Myers, Florida. She started singing in her local church when she was only three years old. She finished high school early, at age 16, to begin her music career.

When she was 18, Mindy moved to Nashville. This city is famous for country music. There, she signed a contract with BNA Records.

First Albums and Success

Her first album, Ten Thousand Angels, was released in 1996. It was very popular and sold two million copies. This album had four hit songs on the country charts. The song "Ten Thousand Angels" reached number 6.

Her song "Guys Do It All the Time" became her first and only number one hit. After that, she released "Maybe He'll Notice Her Now", a duet with Richie McDonald. He was the lead singer of the band Lonestar. Her fourth single from the album, "A Girl's Gotta Do (What a Girl's Gotta Do)", reached number 4 on the charts.

In 1997, Mindy McCready was nominated for a special award. It was for Top New Female Vocalist at the Academy of Country Music Awards. She was nominated alongside Deana Carter and LeAnn Rimes. LeAnn Rimes won the award that year.

Later Albums and Challenges

In 1998, Mindy released her next album, If I Don't Stay the Night. This album also sold well, with 825,000 copies. It included three singles: "What If I Do", "The Other Side of This Kiss", and "You'll Never Know".

Her album I'm Not So Tough came out in 1999. The first song from it, "All I Want Is Everything", did not become a big hit. This album did not sell as well as her previous ones. Soon after, her record company, BNA, decided to part ways with her.

Mindy then signed with Capitol Records. She released a self-titled album with Capitol in 2002. However, this album also had disappointing sales. She left Capitol Records later that same year.

Return to Music

In May 2008, Mindy McCready released a new song called "I'm Still Here". She shared it on her official website. She also mentioned that she was working on a documentary, a new album, and a reality show. Her fifth album, also called I'm Still Here, was released in March 2010. Critics liked this album.

The day after Mindy McCready passed away, her final song was released. It was called "I'll See You Yesterday".

Television Appearances

In 2011, Mindy McCready appeared on a TV show called Celebrity Close Calls. She also appeared on an episode of Celebrity Ghost Stories.

She was also featured on the TV news program 20/20 in December 2011. On the show, she talked about her son, Zander, and her music.

Personal Life

In 1997, Mindy McCready became engaged to actor Dean Cain. They ended their engagement and separated the next year. She also dated former NHL hockey player Drake Berehowsky.

Mindy McCready had two sons. Her first son, Zander Ryan McCready, was born in March 2006. Her second son, Zayne, was born in April 2012.
