Dean George Cain (born July 31, 1966) is an American actor. He is best known for playing Clark Kent / Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman from 1993 to 1997. Cain also hosted Ripley's Believe It or Not! and appeared in the sports drama series Hit the Floor.

Early life and education
Dean George Tanaka was born on July 31, 1966, in Mount Clemens, Michigan. His mother, Sharon Thomas, was an actress. His biological father was Roger Tanaka, a U.S. serviceman. Dean's family background includes Japanese, Welsh, Irish, and French Canadian roots.
When Dean was young, his mother moved him and his older brother Roger to Los Angeles to pursue her acting career. In 1969, his mother married film director Christopher Cain, who adopted Dean and Roger. The family then moved to Malibu, California.
Cain went to Santa Monica High School, where he was very good at sports. He played on the same baseball team as Charlie Sheen. After graduating in 1984, he attended Princeton University. There, he was a star free safety on the football team. In 1987, he set a Princeton record with 12 interceptions in just 10 games. He finished his college football career with 22 interceptions in 30 games. Cain graduated in 1988 with a degree in history.
Acting career
After college, Dean Cain started a career in acting. He appeared in many commercials and TV shows. Some of his early TV appearances were in A Different World and Beverly Hills, 90210.

In 1993, Cain got his most famous role as Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. This show was very popular, with about 15 million viewers per episode. It ran for four seasons until 1997.
Cain has returned to the Superman universe several times. He had a guest role in Smallville as Dr. Curtis Knox. Later, from 2015 to 2017, he played Jeremiah Danvers, the foster father of the main character, in the series Supergirl.
In 1998, Cain started his own production company, Angry Dragon Entertainment. This company produced the TV series Ripley's Believe It Not!, which Cain also hosted. He has acted in many films, including Rat Race (2001) and Out of Time (2003). He also played Pete Davenport in the TV series Hit the Floor.
Dean Cain has appeared in many Christmas movies and films with faith-based themes. In 2021, he announced he would direct his first movie, called Little Angels.
Personal life
Dean Cain has a son named Christopher Dean Cain, who was born on June 11, 2000. He named his son after his stepfather, Christopher Cain.
In 2018, Cain became a reserve police officer for the St. Anthony Police Department in Idaho.
Political views

Dean Cain has stated that he is a registered Independent. He has supported different political candidates over the years.
