Minimum is a small, quiet place in southeastern Iron County, in the U.S. state of Missouri. It is known as an unincorporated community. This means it's a group of homes and businesses that doesn't have its own local government, like a city or town would. Instead, it's part of the larger county.
Where is Minimum Located?
This community is found near two creeks. It sits on the banks of Crane Pond Creek. It is also just north of where Crane Pond Creek meets Sulphur Creek.
Minimum is located at the crossroads of Missouri Route C and County Road 134. If you travel about six miles west, you will find the town of Annapolis. Annapolis is located on Missouri Route 49.

How Minimum Got Its Name
The community of Minimum has an interesting story behind its name. A post office was opened here in 1904. It served the community for many years, finally closing in 1955.
The name "Minimum" is believed to come from a person's name. It is said to be named after Minnie Farr. She was the wife of an early postmaster in the area.
