The Minnehaha Grange Hall is a historic building in Edina, Minnesota. It was built in 1879. For many years, it was a meeting place for a group called the Grange. This group helped farmers in many ways. The hall also served as the Edina Village Hall for a long time. Today, you can visit this special building.

What is the Grange?

The Grange is an organization that helps farmers. It was started in 1867 by a man named Oliver Hudson Kelley in Minnesota. The group wanted to improve farming methods. They also worked to make life better for farmers. The Grange helped farmers get fair prices for their crops. They also fought against high railroad costs. The Grange also provided education for farmers. It quickly became popular across the country.

The Minnehaha Grange, No. 398, was formed on December 23, 1873. Its members came from nearby towns. These included Edina Mills, Richfield Mills, St. Louis Park, and Hopkins.

A Busy Building

The Minnehaha Grange Hall was not always in its current spot. It was moved to Tupa Park in Edina. This park is near Minnesota State Highway 100 and Eden Avenue. Its first location was at Wooddale Avenue and West 50th Street.

This building was very important to the community. From 1888 to 1942, it served as the Edina Village Hall. This means it was where the local government met.

The Grange Returns!

The Grange returned to the historic hall in 2012. A new group formed called the Oliver Hudson Kelley Grange (OHK), No. 834. This group was started by young historians and activists. They wanted to keep the Grange's history alive in Minnesota.

The OHK Grange meets every week at the Minnehaha Grange Hall. Many leaders from the State Grange of Minnesota are part of this group. The OHK Grange still follows old traditions. They are also a strong voice for making positive changes in Minnesota.

Visit the Hall

The Edina Historical Society now owns the Minnehaha Hall. They also own the Cahill School next door. You can take a tour of these buildings. You just need to make an appointment.
