Cool Places to Visit in Mira Mar
Mira Mar is home to some interesting historical spots and fun places.
The Old Farm at Strawberry Hill
One of the most important places is the Old Farm at Strawberry Hill. This farm started as a 9.7-hectare (about 24-acre) vegetable farm. It was used to grow food for the military settlement at King George Sound a long time ago.
Later, from 1832 to 1839, it became the home of Sir Richard Spencer RN. He was Albany's first Government Resident, which was like being the main leader or governor for the area. Sir Spencer's grave is also located at this historic site.
Cull House and Cull Park
You can also find a simple Victorian Georgian style house in Mira Mar. It was built in 1872 by Matthew Cull. He was a verger, someone who helps with duties at a church, for St John's Church in Albany for many years.
In the northwest part of the suburb, on Campbell Road, is Cull Park. This park is 1.1 hectares (about 2.7 acres) in size. It has a small pond with a bridge and also play equipment for kids to enjoy.
