The Story of the Mirror

In this series, the special mirror from the first Mirror, Mirror show ends up with two new families. These families, the McFarlanes and the de Lutrelles, actually live in the same house. The amazing part is that they are separated by 130 years! The mirror lets them travel between their two different times.

The de Lutrelle Family in 1867

The de Lutrelle family lives in the house in 1867. This was a time when the area around the house was full of goldfields. The family includes Gervaise, Violette, and their daughter Constance. They moved from France and still had some of their old wealth. They hoped to find gold in the nearby hills. This would help them get back their family's high status and fortune.

The McFarlane Family in 1997

The McFarlane family lives in the same house in 1997. This family includes Doug, Jenny, and Jenny's two new stepchildren. Doug's Aunt Lily, who can be a bit of a troublemaker, also lives with them. Daniel, Doug's son from another family, decides to visit. He wants to meet his father and his new step-siblings for the first time during the holidays.

Key Adventures

The show follows the adventures of the children as they discover the mirror and learn to travel through time. They often try to help each other across the years, leading to exciting and sometimes tricky situations.

First Journeys Through Time

The story begins when Daniel arrives at the house. He doesn't feel very welcome at first. His stepsister Mandy gets upset and runs to the attic. Daniel follows her. In the attic, he sees a young girl's reflection in the mirror. Daniel and Mandy accidentally stumble through the mirror and find themselves in 1867! They eventually get back to their own time. Later, Aunt Lily and Mandy also travel through the mirror. While they are in 1867, the mirror gets moved. This traps them in the past, and they have to spend the night in the de Lutrelle's barn. Luckily, the mirror is put back in place, and they return home.

Trapped in the Past

Aunt Lily soon learns about the de Lutrelle family's old wealth. She tries to steal their valuable crown by traveling through the mirror. Fergus goes to help Constance, but he gets distracted in the gold fields. He even trades his pocket knife for a piece of land! Daniel and Constance stop Lily from stealing the crown. When Lily returns to her time, she moves the mirror again, trapping the others in 1867. Daniel tries to help Constance, but her father, Gervaise, kicks him out of the house. Fergus gets into trouble with miners but Gervaise rescues him. Lily tells Daniel she will only fix the mirror if he helps her steal the crown. Daniel pretends to agree. When Lily sees Daniel with the crown, she moves the mirror back. They struggle, and Constance and Daniel are sent through the mirror, leaving Lily behind. They then realize the mirror has cracked!

The Crown and Its Consequences

With the mirror damaged, no one can travel through it. Lily, now with the crown, tries to get Fergus to help her take it to the bank. She leaves him and goes to the bank alone. With the money, she buys the de Lutrelle's house! As the mirror slowly fixes itself, Daniel, Mandy, and Constance race to save the crown and Fergus. All traces of Fergus's life start to disappear! Daniel rescues Fergus. Constance tries to get the crown back from the bank. Back in 1997, Lily spends a lot of money. But the crown is now back with the de Lutrelles. Lily's new clothes vanish, leaving her in her underwear!

The Mystery of the Ghost

Constance and her mother get their picture taken. When it's developed, a strange shadowy figure appears in the background! The children start hiding the mirror from Lily. Fergus scans the photo to find out who the figure is. Meanwhile, Gervaise is working in the house's cellar, and strange things happen. The ghostly figure warns Constance to "Beware." The children discover the ghost is Charles Jamieson, who built the house in 1842. A local Māori woman tells them Charles died in the cellar. The ghost was warning them about a cave-in! Constance rushes through the mirror just in time to save her mother from being crushed.

The End of the Adventures

In the final episodes, the mirror shatters into thousands of pieces after being hit by a baseball. Daniel and Constance are trapped in a different dimension, a "Hall of Mirrors." Fergus and Mandy try to put the pieces back together. They realize that if they fix the mirror on their side, it will repair itself on the other side. It works! In the Hall of Mirrors, a kind woman appears to Daniel and Constance. She tells Constance that the crown can change the future. Meanwhile, in 1867, Gervaise finds gold, so he no longer needs to sell the crown. The mirror appears, and Constance returns. She discovers her father has given her the crown. But before she can make plans with her friends, the mirror vanishes, ending their adventures. Back in 1997, Daniel, Fergus, and Mandy visit Constance's grave. They find a clue to the crown's location. Someone arrives with a letter from Constance. The letter says they are now in charge of the Crown Foundation. With their adventures over, Daniel decides to go back home to his mum.

In a special ending, an old woman waits in the Hall of Mirrors. An old man joins her. It's revealed that the old woman is Constance and the old man is Daniel. After her death, Constance waited for Daniel in the Hall of Mirrors. When Daniel passed away, they were finally able to be together forever.
