Antonia Mary Prebble (born 6 June 1984) is a New Zealand actress. She is well-known for her roles in popular TV shows. These include Loretta West in Outrageous Fortune, Trudy in The Tribe, and Rita West in Westside. Internationally, she is also known for playing Clare Langtree in Power Rangers Mystic Force.
Early Life and Education
Antonia Mary Prebble was born in Wellington, New Zealand, on 6 June 1984. She is the middle child of three. Her father, John Prebble, is a lawyer and a law professor. Her mother, Nicola Mary Riddiford, teaches English. Antonia has an older sister, Becky, and a younger brother, Ben.
Her family has other notable members. Her uncle Richard Prebble was a politician. Her uncle Mark Prebble used to lead the State Services Commission. Another uncle, Tom Prebble, was a university professor.
Antonia went to Queen Margaret College from 1999 to 2001. She was in charge of arts and was a top student in her final year. After high school, she studied at Victoria University of Wellington. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Linguistics. She had first started studying law before changing her focus. Antonia also speaks French very well.
Acting Career
Antonia Prebble became interested in acting when she was young. She was in a play called The Magical Kingdom of Thingymijig in 1993. In the late 1990s, she started working on children's TV shows in New Zealand.
She played Mandy McFarlane in Mirror, Mirror in 1997. She was also Trudy in five seasons of The Tribe from 1999 to 2003. She appeared in two episodes of Power Rangers: Dino Thunder as Krista. In 2006, she joined Power Rangers: Mystic Force as Clare Langtree, the Gatekeeper.
Antonia also appeared in a music video for the band Flip Grater. She hosted a New Zealand TV show called WNTV (which stands for What Now Television) from 2002 to 2003.
In 2005, she got a main role in the New Zealand comedy-drama Outrageous Fortune. She played Loretta West, a 15-year-old who loved movies. The show was very popular and ended in 2010.
Antonia had a small role in the TVNZ series The Almighty Johnsons in 2011. She later teamed up with her Outrageous Fortune co-star, Siobhan Marshall, for a mystery show called The Blue Rose in 2013.
In 2015, she played the main role of Rita West in Westside. This show was a prequel to Outrageous Fortune. In Westside, she played the younger version of her character's grandmother from the original series.
Antonia has also been an ambassador for the New Zealand department store Smith & Caughey's since 2016. She has been on the covers of several magazines, including Next Magazine and Fashion Quarterly.
In 2019, she appeared on the New Zealand TV show The Project. She also featured in a music video for the band Alae. In 2020, she took part in a virtual greeting with the cast of Outrageous Fortune to help fight the coronavirus pandemic. She was also a guest host on The Project in 2020.
More recently, Antonia joined the cast of Shortland Street as Dr. Rebekah Anderson in 2022. In 2023, she filmed the NZ series Double Parked and appeared in the SBS legal drama Safe Home.
Personal Life
Antonia Prebble started dating her Westside co-star, Dan Musgrove, in 2016. They announced their engagement in 2018 and that they were expecting a child in 2019. They got married in 2024 and have two children together. Antonia lives in Auckland.
