Mirtha Legrand is a famous Argentine actress and TV host. Her real name is Rosa María Juana Martínez Suárez. She was born on February 23, 1927. Mirtha Legrand has had an amazing career that has lasted for over 80 years! This makes her one of the most well-known entertainment stars in Argentina.

Mirtha Legrand got her first main acting role in a movie called Los martes, orquídeas (On Tuesdays, Orchids) in 1941. She was only 14 years old then. She quickly became a very important actress during the Golden Age of Argentine cinema. This was a time when many great movies were made in Argentina. She starred in many films during the 1940s and 1950s.

Mirtha Legrand is also famous for her TV interview show. It was first called Almorzando con las estrellas (Having Lunch with Stars). It started in 1968. Later, the show's name changed to Almorzando con Mirtha Legrand (Having Lunch with Mirtha Legrand).

Mirtha Legrand was born in Villa Cañás, Argentina. She has a twin sister named Silvia. They also have an older brother, José Antonio. Their parents were José Martínez, a librarian, and Rosa Suárez, a school teacher.

In 1934, her parents moved apart. Her mother, Rosa, moved to Rosario with her three children. There, Mirtha and Silvia took classes to learn singing and dancing. In 1936, they moved to the La Paternal area in Buenos Aires.

Mirtha Legrand started her career in 1939. She joined a contest during a carnival. This contest was part of a radio show called Diario de Cine (Cinema Diary). She became famous in the late 1930s and early 1940s. This was a special time for Argentine movies, much like Hollywood's golden age. Mirtha's stage name, Mirtha Legrand, was given to her by her agent when she was 14. Her first movie was Educating Niní. Her sister Silvia also acted in this film.

In 1945, Mirtha Legrand met Daniel Tinayre while filming Cinco besos (Five Kisses). Daniel was a movie director from France. Mirtha and Daniel got married on May 18, 1946. They had two children together. Their son, Daniel Andrés, was born in 1947. Their daughter, Marcela, was born in 1950.

Mirtha and Daniel were married for many years. Daniel Tinayre passed away in 1994. Their son, Daniel, passed away in 1999.
