Miska Magyarics facts for kids

Miska Magyarics, also known as Mihály Magyarics, was a poet from the Hungarian Slovene community. He lived from 1825 to 1883. He is best known for writing a special book of hymns.

Miska Magyarics was born on January 31, 1825. His birthplace was Mali Dolenci, which was part of the Kingdom of Hungary at that time. Today, this place is called Dolenci and is in Slovenia. His parents were Jakab Magyarics, a farmer, and Anna Messics.

In the second half of the 19th century, Miska Magyarics wrote an important book. It was a Catholic hymnal, which is a collection of songs used in church. This book had 279 pages and included 115 hymns. He wrote it in Prekmurje Slovene, a special dialect of the Slovene language.

Miska Magyarics passed away in Mali Dolenci on January 8, 1883. He was buried at Dolenci Cemetery near St. Nicholas's Church a few days later, on January 10, 1883.
