The Miss Illinois World competition is a special event where young women from Illinois compete to represent their state. The winner gets to go on to the Miss World America pageant. This pageant is a type of beauty pageant, which celebrates talent, personality, and community involvement.

What is Miss Illinois World?
The Miss Illinois World competition started in 1951. It is a state-level beauty pageant. The main goal of this event is to choose a representative from Illinois. This person then competes in the national Miss World America pageant. The winner of Miss World America goes on to represent the United States in the international Miss World competition.
Notable Winners from Illinois
Over the years, many talented young women have won the Miss Illinois World title. Some of them have gone on to achieve great things at the national and even international level.
Illinois's National Winners
Two women from Illinois have won the national Miss World USA or Miss World America title:
- Sandra "Sandie" Anne Wolsfeld from Wheaton won Miss World USA 1970. She then competed in Miss World 1970 and made it into the Top 15.
- Nancy Randall from Chicago won US Miss World 2004. She was the 2nd Runner-Up at Miss World 2004. She also won a special award called Miss World Beach Beauty.
Other Important Illinois Titleholders
Many other Miss Illinois World winners have done well in national competitions:
- Myrna Hansen from Chicago won Miss USA 1953. She was also the 1st Runner-Up at Miss Universe 1953.
- Marite Ozers from Chicago competed in Miss USA World 1962. She later became Miss Illinois USA 1963 and won Miss USA 1963. She was also a Top 15 semi-finalist at Miss Universe 1963. Marite was born in Latvia.
- Laura Ann Bach from Elmhurst was the 2nd Runner-Up at Miss USA 1985. Her sister, Tricia Bach, was also Miss Illinois USA in 1986.
- Ansima Rosette Mamboleo, the current Miss Illinois World 2020, was born in the Democratic Republic of the Congo and grew up in South Africa. She placed in the Top 15 at Miss World America 2020.
- Alexandra Plotz from Geneva was Miss Illinois World 2019. She had previously been Miss Illinois Teen USA 2012 and Miss Illinois USA 2019.
