The Mississippi State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs (MSFCWC) is an important group for African Americans in Mississippi. It is a woman's club, which means it's an organization where women work together for community goals. This group was started in 1903.

The MSFCWC is part of a larger network called the National Association of Colored Women (NACW). Think of it like a main organization (an "umbrella organization") that many smaller clubs join. The main office for the MSFCWC is in Jackson. The club held yearly meetings called conventions and had different groups (committees) working on specific tasks. The MSFCWC helped many black people in Mississippi by offering chances for scholarships and providing useful resources.

History of the MSFCWC

The Mississippi State Federation of Colored Women's Clubs was created in 1903 by three educators: Ursula J. Wade Foster, Mattie F. Rowan, and Lizzie Coleman. They were inspired after attending a meeting of the Southeastern Association of Colored Women's Clubs in Vicksburg in 1901.

By 1906, the yearly meeting of the MSFCWC was expected to bring together about 200 representatives from different women's clubs across Mississippi. There was a time, for about six years before 1920, when the annual convention did not take place.

In 1953, the organization opened a new building for its club activities. This clubhouse was dedicated in Clinton, a town located near Jackson.
