Mitsuo Watanabe (渡辺 三男, Watanabe Mitsuo, born June 4, 1953) is a famous former Japanese football player. He was a talented Midfielder and Forward who played for the Japan national team. He spent his entire club career with Fujita Industries, where he helped them win many important championships.

Playing for Clubs: A Winning Career
Mitsuo Watanabe started his football journey in 1972 after finishing high school. He joined a local team called Towa Real Estate. This team later moved to Tokyo and changed its name to "Fujita Industries".
Watanabe was a key player for Fujita Industries. He helped his team win the top Japanese football league, the Japan Soccer League, three times! They won in 1977, 1979, and 1981.
Winning the Emperor's Cup
His team also won the Emperor's Cup, another major football competition in Japan, twice. They lifted the trophy in 1977 and 1979. Mitsuo Watanabe played a total of 201 games in the league and scored 34 goals for his club before he retired in 1983.
Playing for Japan: National Team Career
Mitsuo Watanabe also played for his country, the Japan national team. He made his first appearance for Japan on February 12, 1974, in a game against Singapore.
Representing Japan in Big Tournaments
In September 1974, he was chosen to represent Japan at the 1974 Asian Games. He also played in the qualification matches for the 1976 Summer Olympics. He played 28 games for Japan and scored 4 goals before his national team career ended in 1979.
