Miya Tachibana (立花 美哉, Tachibana Miya, born December 12, 1974) is a famous Japanese athlete. She competed in synchronised swimming, a sport that combines swimming, dance, and gymnastics. Miya is from Ōtsu, Shiga, Japan. She started learning synchronised swimming when she was in fourth grade. In 2011, she was honored by being added to the International Swimming Hall of Fame.

Miya Tachibana is known for winning many medals in synchronised swimming. She competed in major events like the Olympics and World Championships. Her hard work and talent made her one of Japan's top athletes.

World Aquatics Championships

Miya Tachibana won eight medals at the World Aquatics Championships. These championships are a big event for water sports. In 2001, at the Fukuoka Championships, Miya and her partner Miho Takeda won a gold medal in the duet event. This was a very special moment. It was the first time a Japanese synchronised swimming team won a gold medal at this tournament!

In 2008, Miya coached the Santa Clara Aquamaids, a synchronised swimming team in Santa Clara, California. After that, she continued coaching at the Imura Synchro Club. She helped new swimmers learn and grow in the sport.

Miya's Personal Life

In February 2012, Miya Tachibana shared happy news. She announced that she was going to marry an office worker who lived in Osaka.
