Mjölby is a city in Sweden. It is the main town of Mjölby Municipality. About 28,544 people lived there in 2024. Mjölby is located in Östergötland County.

Mjölby is next to a small river called Svartån. The name Mjölby comes from an old word meaning 'mill'. This area was perfect for mills. The river had fast-moving water. The land around it was good for farming.

During the Dacke War (1542–1543), rebels from Småland reached Mjölby. It was as far north as they went.
