Mohammad Reza Adelkhani, born on February 13, 1947, in Tehran, Iran, is a famous retired Iranian football player. He used to play as a forward. He was also a member of the Iran national football team. Adelkhani was the first Iranian to earn the UEFA Pro Licence, which is a very high coaching qualification in football.

Early Days and Starting Football
Mohammad Reza Adelkhani was born in Tehran, Iran, on February 13, 1947. He started playing football when he was just 13 years old. He began his journey in the sport by playing for the Shahin club in 1960.
Playing for Clubs
Playing in Europe
Mohammad Reza Adelkhani played for several clubs in Europe. These included SG Wattenscheid 09, Wuppertaler SV, Rot-Weiß Oberhausen, Bayern Munich, and VfL Klafeld-Geisweid. He was the first Iranian player to move to Europe to play professional football. German talent scouts noticed his skills during a friendly match in Turkey. They were so impressed that they signed him to play for Bayern Munich.
Playing in Iran
After his time in Europe, Adelkhani returned to Iran. His first senior club there was Taj SC. With Taj SC, he helped the team win the championship title in the Iranian league. This was during the Takht Jamshid Cup competition. Later, he joined Shahbaz F.C.. In the 1976–77 season, he helped Shahbaz F.C. finish in third place in the Iranian league.
International Career
Mohammad Reza Adelkhani also played for his country. Between 1973 and 1978, he played 17 matches for the Iran national football team. During these games, he scored 2 goals for his country.
Asian Games Victory
One of his most memorable moments was in the 1974 Asian Games football final. This important match was held in Aryamehr Stadium in Tehran. Iran played against Israel. Adelkhani played a key role in the game. He caused an "own goal" by an opposing player, which helped Iran win the tournament. This victory was a big moment for Iranian football fans.
Missing the World Cup
Adelkhani was part of the Iran team that qualified for the 1978 FIFA World Cup. This was a huge achievement for the country. However, he could not play in the World Cup. He got an injury while saving his young daughter from falling down the stairs. This injury sadly kept him out of the competition. He was known for being a left-footed player.
