Mohammed Bakar (born June 25, 1945 – died November 8, 2020) was a famous Malaysian football player. He was also a coach for the national team. Mohammed Bakar was chosen to be the flag bearer for Malaysia at the 1972 Summer Olympics. This means he carried his country's flag during the opening ceremony.

Playing Career
Mohammed Bakar played football for Penang FA during his career. At that time, football in Malaysia was not a full-time job, so he was also a teacher.
Olympic Games
Mohammed Bakar played for the Malaysian national team at the 1972 Summer Olympics in Munich, Germany. He came into a game against the United States as a substitute. Malaysia won that game 3-0.
Coaching Career
After his playing days, Mohammed Bakar became a football coach.
Coaching the National Team
He was part of the coaching staff when Malaysia qualified for the 1980 Olympics. However, Malaysia decided not to send its team to those Olympics.
Mohammed Bakar was also the head coach when Malaysia won the gold medal at the 1979 Southeast Asian Games. Later, in 1985, he was the head coach for Malaysia during the qualifying games for the 1986 FIFA World Cup.
Awards and Recognition
In 2004, Mohammed Bakar was honored by the Olympic Council of Malaysia. He was added to their Hall of Fame for his part in the 1972 Summer Olympics football team. He also received a special award called Maal Hijrah Sports Figure from the Penang Malay Association.
Mohammed Bakar passed away on November 8, 2020, at the age of 75.
