Mohsen Tanabandeh (born April 15, 1975) is a famous Iranian actor, writer, and director. He is most well-known for playing the character Naghi Mamooli in the TV show Capital. This popular series ran from 2011 to 2025. Mohsen Tanabandeh also created and was the main writer for Capital, and he won three Hafez Awards for his work on it.

Early Life and Start in Acting
Mohsen Tanabandeh was born in Tehran, Iran, on April 15, 1975. His family moved around a bit when he was young because of his father's job. They lived in Tehran and then in Eslamshahr, where Mohsen went to school.
He is one of seven children, with three brothers and three sisters. Mohsen also knows how to speak the Mazanderani language, which is spoken in a part of Iran called Mazandaran Province. He studied acting and started his professional acting career in theater in 1995. He performed in plays like Bar-e Am and Jaryan-e Asabi.
Mohsen Tanabandeh's Career
Mohsen Tanabandeh first worked in theater before he started acting in movies. In 2003, he appeared in his first movie, Tiny Snowflakes. He became more widely known for his acting and writing in the 2005 film A Martyrdom for God. For this movie, he won an award called the Crystal Simorgh for Best Supporting Actor at the Fajr Film Festival. He was also nominated for Best Screenplay.
He later won the Crystal Simorgh for Best Actor for his roles in Seven Minutes Until Autumn (2009) and Ferrari (2017). He also received a special award called an Honorary Diploma for his work in Indigences (2010).
Famous TV Roles
Mohsen Tanabandeh's role as Naghi Mamooli in the TV series Capital made him very famous. People loved his character, and he won three Hafez Awards for his acting and writing on the show. He also played different characters with special makeup in the series Shahgoosh. In another show called Fool, he played an elderly woman.
In the 2015 movie Muhammad: The Messenger of God, Mohsen Tanabandeh played a Jewish character named Samuel. He even spoke most of his lines in Hebrew!
Recent Successes
In 2021, Mohsen Tanabandeh was in the movie A Hero, which was very popular and received good reviews. The next year, in 2022, he won the Best Actor award at the 79th Venice International Film Festival for his role in the movie World War III.
Besides acting, Mohsen Tanabandeh has also directed films. His first movie as a director was Ginness in 2015, and he later directed Oath in 2019. He has also worked a lot as a screenwriter and an acting coach, helping other actors.
