Life and Career of Mollie Maureen
Mollie Maureen was born Elizabeth Mary Campfield in Ireland in 1904. She started her acting journey in 1939 with a film called A Ship in the Bay.
Mollie Maureen spent most of her career working in television. She often played smaller, but memorable, parts in many well-known shows. You might have seen her in shows like Dr. Finlay's Casebook, Z-Cars, Open All Hours, Last of the Summer Wine, and The Sweeney. She even appeared as an elderly lady in an episode of Hammer House of Mystery and Suspense.
From 1981 to 1983, she had different roles on The Kenny Everett Show. She also played Lady Glenmire in the 1972 TV version of Elizabeth Gaskell's Cranford.
Interestingly, Mollie Maureen played Queen Victoria on screen two times! One time was in the film The Private Life of Sherlock Holmes, and the other was in a TV mini-series called The Edwardians.
Her very last film role was in Little Dorrit in 1987. She played a unique character called Mr. F's Aunt. Mollie Maureen passed away in London when she was 82 years old.
