Mongar District facts for kids

Mongar District is one of the 20 main areas, called districts, in the country of Bhutan. The main town and administrative center of this district is also called Mongar.
Mongar is known for a special plant called lemon grass. This plant can be used to make an essential oil, which is a concentrated liquid that smells like the plant. The district also has a hydroelectric power plant on the Kuri Chhu river. This plant uses the power of flowing water to create electricity.
Parts of two important nature areas, the Thrumshingla National Park and Bumdeling Wildlife Sanctuary, are located in Mongar District. These areas help protect the local wildlife and plants.
